I've Got Issues

Over on YA Highway they're asking: "what's your numero-uno reason for writing?"

I love to write because I'm restless. I didn't realize it until the Writing Partner called me on it. It's true though: I'm always looking for the next thing.

I've lasted about two years at my last three day jobs, and the timing runs like clockwork. I get antsy. I get bored. There's nothing new to learn and I can feel the seconds of my finite time on this planet ticking away with nothing to show for them.

With writing, each new idea is a new start. I'm in love with that burst of adrenaline that comes when you know...just KNOW...that you have a great idea. And then you can just sit down and start writing! You don't need anyone's permission! Nobody can stop you!

I think I just discovered that I have a problem with authority. Thanks, YA Highway!

"With writing, each new idea is a new start." That is SO TRUE. Great reasoning and I agree 100%.

"I'm in love with that burst of adrenaline that comes when you know...just KNOW...that you have a great idea." I know exactly what you mean. And then to start writing it, and it's as good on "paper" as it was in your head. Perhaps better! Wonderful!! :)

Ha ha, so true... I thought the same the other day, as I wrote about the way I work (without a method, I can't follow patterns or rules or I get bored). Isn't being a writer the most exciting job in the world? Every year or half-year you get to embark on a new adventure with new people! :D (All the while sitting comfortably at home, LOL)

And the great thing about writing is if you're restless with the story, then BLAMO! you can make a herd of rhinos come stampeding through the living room out of nowhere! Okay, maybe not quite that (unless the house is actually a hut on the Serengeti), but you can introduce a whole new element to shake things up! Such fun. ^_^

Hehe. Awesome response to the prompt.

I find I get restless when I hit that murky middle. It's SO tempting to start a new project, but I forge through it.

I agree--it's so exciting starting on a new writing project! I get restless to a degree, as well, so I can relate. Sometimes I wish I'd stay more interested in my WIPs so I can actually finish them.
